Dante Via v1.1.1.1 (OS X)

Dante Via is a software application that allows you to quickly and easily connect high-quality audio between audio-capable hardware devices and software applications, both locally and across a Dante network.

Note: Dante Via is not currently supported on macOS 10.13. Support for macOS 10.13 will be introduced in an upcoming release.

Free 30-Day Trial

To start your free 30-day trial of Dante Via, just download the software and follow the instructions to start the trial. Please note that you can only activate a 30-day trial of Dante Via 1.1 once per computer. If you have previously run a 30-day trial of Dante Via 1.0, you may run another trial of Dante Via 1.1 to evaluate the new features. Before starting your free 30-day trial of Dante Via, make sure your operating system is supported and meets the minimum system requirements listed below.

Please note that Dante Via occasionally needs to access the Internet to validate the license. If your computer is not continually connected to the Internet, you may be prompted to connect it from time to time to keep the license active.

If you are currently using Dante Controller and/or Dante Virtual Soundcard, you must upgrade to the latest version to use Dante Via.

  • Support for macOS 10.12 Sierra.

The following new features were introduced with the previous release, version 1.1.0.10:

  • 16 channels for software applications
    Dante Via now supports up to 16 audio channels in/out for software applications (previously 2 channels). A new 16 Channel Application Input is now provided in addition to the standard 2 Channel Application Input.
     
  • Device Lock
    Dante Via can now be locked with a 4-digit PIN, to prevent accidental or unauthorised changes to your routing configuration. To lock and unlock Dante Via, use the Locking tab in the Preferences.
     
  • Volume Mixer
    For stereo destinations that are receiving multiple sources, a volume mixer is now provided. You can use the volume mixer to individually control volume levels for each subscribed source. Click the volume mixer icon  to open the mixer.
     
  • Improved Status Reporting
    Dante Via now includes new and improved graphical UI indicators for resource over-utilisation, unresolved / failed subscriptions and hardware driver initialisation problems.

  • 1Gbps network switch (Wi-Fi is not supported)

Note: Dante Via is not supported on virtual machines

Notes: 

Installing Dante Via

  1. Ensure you are logged on to your computer as an administrator.
  2. Ensure that Dante Virtual Soundcard is not running.
  3. Double-click the downloaded Dante Via installer file.
  4. A drive icon will appear on your Desktop Finder window. Double-click it to open.
  5. Double-click the Dante Via.pkg file. This will run the installer.
  6. Read the license text, and if you accept the terms of the agreement, click Agree.
  7. If you do not accept these terms, click Disagree to terminate the installation.

In order to complete the Dante Via installation process, you will be required to reboot your computer. It is advised that you do not install Dante Via until you are in a position to reboot your computer immediately after installation.

 

 

Get Update Notifications

Bug Fixes: 
  • VIA-2456: Fixed a problem that was causing distorted transmit audio to remote Dante receivers on macOS 10.12 Sierra.
Known Issues: 
  • VIA-2171: On OS X 10.9.5, Dante Via does not automatically become the default audio device after installation.
    Workaround: After installing Dante Via on OS X 10.9.5, manually set Dante Via as the default output and input devices in the System Sound Preferences.
  • VIA-2439: Dante Via exhibits excessive memory usage on OS X 10.12 Beta. Workaround: Close and reopen the Dante Via application.
  • VIA-2440: The Dante Via audio engine can crash when audio resource usage is very high. Workaround: Stop and restart Dante Via (using the Stop / Start button).
  • VIA-2435: Dante Via loses all application configuration information (including routing) when updating to v1.1.1.1.

 

Audinate’s Support for Inclusive Language

To our customers: some of the terminology used in Dante products has been changed to align with modern usage. Specifically, areas related to Dante clocking now refer to “Primary Leader Clock”, “Leader Clocks” and “Follower Clocks” to describe the functions of each role more clearly.
